About HelpBob

Fifteen years of doing this the hard way. So you don’t have to.

HelpBob didn’t start as a product. It started as fifteen years of getting accessibility right for everyone from large institutions to small online shops — and wishing the whole time that a tool like this existed.

How HelpBob was born

We spent 15 years learning where accessibility breaks. Then we fixed it.

Before HelpBob, we were a digital agency. For fifteen years we built and advised sites for just about everyone: European governments and the organizations around them, Fortune 500 companies and small e-commerce shops whose existence depended on the checkout page.

Back then accessibility was an afterthought — barely on anyone’s radar. But whenever it did make it into a project, it was always harder than it sounded. A requirement the size of a single sentence ("the site must be accessible") unfolded into hundreds of decisions: hard to implement, harder to verify, hardest of all to know who to trust.

The market filled up with shortcuts: overlay widgets that promised instant compliance and quietly made everything worse, and "audit-and-forget" consultancies that handed over a 90-page PDF and disappeared. The proper route — manual remediation by specialists — was slow, extremely expensive and out of date by the next release.

At some point we stopped wishing and built it. That’s HelpBob — made to make life easier on both sides of the screen: people with disabilities finally getting a web that works for them, and businesses that have to and want to meet accessibility laws on both sides of the Atlantic.

What we believe

Principles we don’t trade away.

01

Fix the cause, not the symptom

Overlays plaster over problems in the browser. We change things at the source — the fix is real and it survives your next deploy.

02

Proof, not promises

Every change is captured in a tamper-evident log. When an auditor, lawyer or customer asks, you can show what was done and when.

03

Accessibility is for people

Compliance is the floor, not the goal. We design for the person at the other end of the screen reader — not for a checklist.

The people

The team behind Bob.

HelpBob is built by a distributed team of engineers, accessibility specialists and compliance experts across the EU and US — led day-to-day by three people who’ve spent their careers on exactly this problem.

Clemens

Vincent
VincentHead of Development

The mind behind the engine. One of those rare engineers who’ve read the WCAG standard AND the browser source code — he architected the scan-and-fix pipeline.
