About HelpBob

Fifteen years of doing this the hard way. So you don’t have to.

HelpBob didn’t start as a product. It started as fifteen years of getting accessibility right for everyone from large institutions to small online shops — and wishing the whole time that a tool like this existed.

How HelpBob was born

We spent 15 years learning where accessibility breaks. Then we fixed it.

Before HelpBob, we were a digital agency. For fifteen years we built and consulted on websites for just about everyone: European governments and the organizations that orbit them, Fortune 500 companies, and small e-commerce shops that lived or died by their checkout page.

Back then, accessibility was an afterthought — barely on anyone’s radar. But when it did land on a project, it was always harder than it sounded. A requirement that reads like a single sentence (“the site must be accessible”) would unfold into hundreds of decisions: hard to implement, harder to verify, and hardest of all to know whom to trust — every vendor claimed expertise, and few could prove it.

The market filled up with shortcuts: overlay widgets that promised instant compliance and quietly made things worse, and audit-and-forget consultancies that handed over a 90-page PDF and disappeared. The proper route — manual remediation by specialists — was slow, eye-wateringly expensive, and out of date the moment you shipped your next release. So we kept wishing for a tool that would find the problems, fix them at the source, prove what it did, and keep watching so nothing regressed.

Eventually we stopped wishing and built it. That’s HelpBob — made to make life easier on both sides of the screen: for visitors with disabilities, who finally get a web that works for them, and for the companies that need — and want — to meet accessibility laws on both sides of the Atlantic.

What we believe

Principles we don’t trade away.

01

Fix the cause, not the symptom

Overlays paper over problems in the browser. We change things at the source, so the fix is real — and it survives your next deploy.

02

Proof over promises

Every change is logged in a tamper-evident trail. When an auditor, a lawyer, or a customer asks, you can show exactly what was done and when.

03

Accessibility is for people

Compliance is the floor, not the goal. We design for the human on the other end of the screen reader — not for a checklist.

The people

The team behind Bob.

HelpBob is built by a distributed team of engineers, accessibility specialists and compliance experts across the EU and US — led day-to-day by three people who’ve spent their careers on exactly this problem.

The mind behind the engine. One of those rare engineers who has read the WCAG spec and the browser source — he architected the scan-and-fix pipeline that changes code at the source, at scale.
